Welcome to Johnson Autoworks' website.  If this is your first visit, here's a bit of information about who we are and what we do.  If you know me already you can skip this bit and check out the pictures

Johnson Autoworks has been running since 2001 where I started out on my own in a small lock up now we have a purpose built workshop and have 3 full time staff. I entered into the world of the motor trade in 1992 when I had my first job as an apprentice diesel fitter and then in 1993 moved on to a ford dealership where I finished my apprenticeship and gained my qualifications.  Although I worked for a ford dealership my passion outside of work was always  been for air cooled VWs I started my first resto project at 16 and haven't stopped since. I have owned many bugs ,busses and all manor of  aircoolers even going through a stage of owning a few Porsche 914's

Our team consist of 3 highly skilled individuals all of whom have been through full apprenticeships and received all there appropriate qualifactions and and have some great experience on all types of vehicle and all of them have a big passion for building ,restoring and driving VW's

Our passion and experience means your vehicle is in good hands

We have had many articles published in Volksworld (the biggest vw scene magazine)www.volksworld.com and had many  vans featured which have been built by us and we regularly contribute to there "how to pages"

Just this month we have had 2 photo shoot's done for Volksworld Camper and Bus one of our own workshop bus a 1962 split screen and one of our customers Simon colliers 1967 split screen camper ,look out for them soon

If thats not enough we also put on our own show on www.thebustopover.com which we run together with Andrew of www.vwcurtains.com if you book now you can take advantage of our discount ticket price

If you are looking for that special bus we have a very good 1970 Westfalia which will make a perfect restoration base vehicle ready for the next show stopper or just that family camper.

Andy Smiths 1972 Bay since being fully restored by us its bagged almost 20 trophies at all the top shows inc Best bay at both Van fest and Bug Jam... need we say more!

Heres Luke Hubbards 69 fresh out of the resto house ,man what a stunner 3 years and a lot of graft ,blood sweat and tears, this was one rusty double door !keep an eye out it really is a super straight example of a UK RHD bus.....

You can find us just south of Nottingham off the A46 in Wymeswold.  Half an hour from J21A of the M1. or if you are coming from the North 20 mins from J24 of the M1

And to make life easier we now accept all major credit and debit cards

All prices ,quotes and estimates are now subject to V.A.T

What do we do?  Anything and everything for air cooled VWs, especially Type IIs.  From checking out a prospective purchase to repairs, servicing, MOT prep or custom lowering right up to a full scale restoration.  we've normally got a few choice vehicles for sale too - some are my own, some on behalf of clients. As I run a T4 for my everyday vehicle we are starting to get to know them quite well and are now  carrying out service and maintainance on all T4 models, also incorporating lowering, body work ,window fitting service (turn your builders van into a camper)and full interior conversions and 240 hook up and split charge systems
