Everything works as exactly as it should with this amazing 1967, 12 volt, 1500cc, Swedish import Beetle. It has only ever had one very small repair, which was under the battery section of the floorpan. Although some areas have been repainted it still wears a lot of its original Lotus white paint and retains its original red vinyl basket weave interior. Its rebuilt 1500 cc engine is arguably the best engine that VW produced during the ’60s and with a lot of other parts having been refurbished or recently replaced this is a car that needs for nothing other than to be driven and enjoyed.
As expected with a car of this age the interior, which is totally original, has a few tears and marks here and there. Whilst these are easily repaired or replaced, I feel they are part and parcel of this Bugs particular charm and character and as soon as you open the door you’ll get a whiff of that glorious unrestored vintage car smell.
1967 is a year that a lot of VW enthusiasts crave as it was around this time that Volkswagen had pretty much nailed down their production process in terms of both build quality and performance as well as looks. This Bug has a few features that are specific to that year including the stubby engine lid, the early style wings and bumpers as well as the four-stud wheels and the added bonus of front disc brakes. The only untested feature is the auxiliary Erberspacher petrol heater which was fitted pretty much as standard to all Swedish models due to their extreme winters and should produce good heat on idle.
Cars of this vintage and in this condition are proving increasingly hard to find. This original 1967 example is a true survivor and whether you are taking it out on the school run or for a Sunday afternoon cruise it’s an absolute pleasure to drive,
