The Porsche 914 or VW-Porsche 914 is a mid-engined sports car designed, manufactured and marketed collaboratively by Volkswagen and Porsche from 1969 until 1976. It was only available as a targa-topped two-seat roadster powered by either a flat-four or flat-six engine. Only manufactured in Germany, the 914 was very popular in the United States and Europe. It was never officially released in the UK, but as time has small numbers became available as imports. As a result, it is quite a rare car and there aren't many on the road today.
This example is a 1700 cc fuel injection model from 1972. It has only had one previous UK owner, and the current mileage stands at 42172. It was imported into the UK in 2014 and was stored in a dry location until January 2024, when it was handed over to Johnson Autoworks for restoration.
Since then, the car underwent an extensive mechanical overhaul, with new brakes and fresh hydraulic fluid, a new clutch, complete gearbox rebuild, full engine service and tune-up.
The bodywork is Willow Green, its original colour, but looks to have been painted whilst in the USA during the early `00s. That said, although not perfect, the bodywork and paint still present very well, and the car looks great. It would hold up well with its contemporaries in any show.
The only non-original parts are the Porsche pressed sill covers and the Porsche alloy wheels, which only enhance the car's iconic look. The seats are in excellent condition and the interior has benefited from a recent retrim of the carpets.
This is a rare classic, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find one that is in such overall good, ready-to-go condition.
